13 Oct 18: Pride 78-70 Palatinates (CUP)

Caledonia Pride advance to the next round of the WBBL Cup

Caledonia Pride 78- 70 Durham Palatinates
(24-18, 41-36, 55-49)

Scottish side Caledonia Pride took an initial step on a potential journey all the way to the 2019 WBBL Cup Final, having featured at Arena Birmingham in the 2018 edition.

They had to work hard to see off a dangerous Durham team who were always in contention throughout the contest.

Leading scorers – Weledji 21, Robb 12, Millar 11 (Pride); Bosilj 29, Ottewill-Soulsby 18, Byrne 8, Deurden 8 (Palatinates)

Turning point – It was a one shot game heading into crunch time, but a sweet ‘and-1’ by Shawnisay Millar doubled Pride’s advantage and helped them get over the finishing line.

Key stat – You just need to take a look at Pride dropping almost 80 points. They struggled at times last year firepower-wise, but look well set in these early weeks of the new season.

Game hero – Tia Weledji showed her class once again with another unstoppable display and her 21 points showed how much of a driving force she was.
