With just over a week until the 2020-21 season commences, Cardiff Met Archers today boosted their squad with a double signing.
Shannon Hatch will be joining the club for the first time whilst Denise Molnar makes a return to the WBBL six years after its launch.
Hatch previously played professional in Germany for the past two seasons and played under former GB Head Coach Damian Jennings at University of Calgary.
“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the Cardiff Met Archers this season and to be starting my master’s degree,” said Hatch.
“It is a wonderful club with incredible people, and I am really looking forward to suiting up and doing everything I can to help the team.”
Head Coach, Stef Collins added, “We’ve been in conversations with Shannon for a while now about coming to Cardiff to combine both her basketball with academics.
“She’s already made a massive impact on the team with the way she plays and her character. A true team player who shows a real desire to work hard and do all the little things which you cannot help but admire.
Her teammate Molnar re-joins Cardiff having previously played for Welsh side in the 2014-15 season, the debut season of the WBBL, after taking a few seasons off to focus on her studies.
“Making the WBBL squad this season means everything to me,” said Molnar.
“After a couple of years of not playing competitively, it feels good to be back in the Archers Arena with the opportunity to help my team be the best in upcoming season.”
Coach Collins added, “We’re thrilled Denisa has come back to play again for the Archers.
“She has a lot of enthusiasm and energy for the game and wants to continue to learn and develop.”
