Great Britain Women will gather together in Manchester later this week to commence their final preparations for the remaining two games in Group D of the FIBA Women’s EuroBasket 2019 Qualifiers window.
Facing Greece on the 17th and Portugal on the 21st, the team can guarantee themselves a place at Final Round if they can win both games. Next year’s showpiece event is being jointly hosted in Latvia and Serbia during June.
Head coach Chema Buceta has brought together an experienced squad of 16 players as the team try to improve on their eye-catching 3-1 record to date.
The play-caller is eager to get going and excited about the prospect of getting the team through these two crucial games.
He stated, “It is a great place to be in at this stage of the qualification round. This group of players have worked hard together and gained vital experience, as this campaign has progressed. They have come through tough games to put themselves into this position.
“We are looking forward to playing once again at the National Basketball Performance Centre in Manchester, in front of our fantastic supporters.
“They were the vital sixth man in our win against Israel last year and I am looking forward to having them as part of our team once again, for the next two games.”
