There is unlikely to be a player more eager to take to the floor for the 2018-19 WBBL season than Naomi Campbell, who missed most of last year with serious injury.
The experienced and hugely popular figure has re-signed for Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters and is looking to make up for lost time when the new campaign gets underway.
“Yes, I can’t wait to be back on court,” declared Campbell.
“Last season was both challenging and frustrating beyond belief, but being on the sidelines has been somewhat humbling. I have surprised myself a lot – exercising a lot of self-discipline even on the tough days.
“I have been fortunate enough to have had support from family, friends, teammates and the wider basketball community to remind me why we put ourselves through these tests.
“I feel lucky to have the opportunity to play the game I love once again and am more determined than ever! With rehab still ongoing, I know there will be more hurdles to come, both physically and mentally, before I can impact the game the way I want.”
She continued: “I am not yet sure what my comeback will have in store for me. This injury will no doubt change my game somewhat, but it’s a new beginning for me and I am really excited to see it unfold – I mean after a year of working on my handles, I might even be a guard!
“All joking aside, I am really excited to get back on court with Hatters and hopefully will help to bring back some more silverware to Sheffield as I return to full strength!”
Hatters are due to make further announcements in respect of their roster for 2018-19 during coming days and weeks
