Cat Lutz will return to the Essex Rebels for the forthcoming 2019-20 WBBL season and is ready to lead her team to success.
Lutz, who returns to the club after a summer of rehab following an injury at the back end of last season, played for Essex Blades in their NBL Division 1 winning season, and continued with the Essex Rebels as team captain in their debut season.
Having previously played in the NCAA at Iona College, Lutz then played for Reading Rockets in the NBL before coming to Essex to study for a PhD in Sports Psychology.
“I am so grateful to continue playing for the Essex Rebels,” said Lutz. “With all the hard work being put in I know we will be able to take some big steps this season towards achieving our goals, and continue to build the foundation we began last season.”
Head Coach Tom Sadler added, “Cat brings a wealth of experience to the team and with our expectations for the team being higher this year she will be a big part of our success.
“Cat’s coming off an injury but she’s been working hard this off-season to ensure she is healthy and will have an important role to play with this team. Despite her injury last season she was still amongst the top five in three-points made. She brings a large amount of experience, knowledge, and leadership to this group that we will maximise.”
“Securing both Jessy and Cat to our roster provides a core leadership duo that the team can be built around. We are excited for what they will offer this season and also excited of how they will play with our returning and new signings.”
