Cardiff Met Archers have inked a Welsh duo for their next double signing, in the form of Issy Bunyan and Carys Roy.
Bunyan and Roy, both of whom are 16 years old, become Archers’ fifth and sixth signing for the forthcoming 2021-22 season.
5’11” forward Bunyan will suit up for her third season with Archers, having also have prior international experience with Team Wales and GB U16.
“I am so excited to get back to work with the team for this season,” said Bunyan.
“I really enjoyed my time playing with the WBBL last season and was grateful for the opportunity to get on the court. I am looking forward to developing my basketball further by playing with the more experienced players. It’s a great opportunity for me to learn and grow as a player.”
Meanwhile, 6’3” centre/forward Carys Roy will step up from the Archers WNBL Division One side to take to the floor for the senior WBBL women’s team.
“I’m thrilled to have been given the opportunity to play at such a high level in the WBBL,” said the Australian born Roy.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge and experience I will gain from training and playing amongst such great players.”
Head Coach Stef Collins said she was ‘super excited’ to see both Bunyan and Roy step up for another season with the Welsh club.
“Issy and Carys have grown so much over the past season and their talent continues to shine through,” said the playcaller.
“The opportunity to play in the WBBL will, of course, further their development with the calibre of players and teams across the league. Both love the game, show great commitment and a willingness to learn and work hard, all of which are important elements for a player to develop during their basketball careers and beyond.”
