Lana Doran has committed to the Nottingham Wildcats for next season after making a huge impression during her first campaign in the WBBL.
The guard, was initially at the Wildcats as a junior player, before moving to Barking Abbey and then on to California University of Pennsylvania, for her college career.
Doran was a regular starter for the Wildcats last season and became somewhat of a defensive linchpin, guarding opposition players through positions 1 to 3. Her best game of the year was arguably against Caledonia Pride in the WBBL Cup final triumph at Arena Birmingham.
“I am very thankful to Nottingham for giving me another opportunity to play for them this season,” stated Doran.
“Experiencing a Cup Final win with them has just made me hungry for another. I am ready to work hard and look forward to seeing what the upcoming season has in store for us as a team”.
Michael Hanson Morris, who is part of the Wildcats’ team responsible for recruitment added his endorsement and stated: “Securing Lana’s return was a key priority for us during this off season. Her intensity was a huge part of our identity on the defensive end last season and helped us to be successful in key moments.
“Lana’s ability to perform no matter what, is a huge testament to her character and having had a full off season under her belt, both myself and Kenrick [Liburd] are excited to see Lana continue her development in becoming a dynamic player on both ends of the floor.”
Further announces will be made later in the week as the Wildcats continue to build their roster.
