First win of season for Lions, History for Durham and Pride success

Durham Palatinates opened up their first ever WBBL Trophy campaign with a historic maiden victory in the competition on Sunday afternoon. They edged out Manchester Mystics in a 75-74 overtime thriller as British forward Harriet Ottewill-Soulsby starred with 16 points and 17 rebounds.

In the South-East derby, it was Trophy joy for BA London Lions who won their first game of the entire 2017-18 campaign. Loren Christie led the way with 13 points and as many boards in a 75-70 triumph against Oaklands Wolves.

Meanwhile cross-border derby honours went to the visiting Caledonia Pride as 18 points and 14 boards from Tricia Oakes propelled the Scottish side past Team Northumbria 64-82 at Sport Central.
