Patel: Trophy would be an incredible achievement for Riders

The 2018 WBBL Betty Codona Trophy Final takes centre stage this weekend as Leicester Riders and Sevenoaks Suns meet at Cheshire Oaks Arena.

With the season series tied at one win each, Saturday’s Final is set to be a spectacular occasion.

“The Trophy run has been a great experience,” began Riders Head Coach Krumesh Patel.

“The girls have grown each game and it’s been good to see them get through some tough situations along the way.

“There has definitely been some added motivation from not making it to the Cup Final, but the main driver for this run has been an internal drive that has led to a new level of focus.

“We’ve had multiple players step up and speak up; this has been a huge factor in us doing well.

“Sevenoaks are a talented team with a great depth of experience and talent.

“They are led by Cat Carr who’s having a great year for them.

“We’ve got to make sure we stick to our game plan and style of play for the full 40 minutes, if we control what we can we will put ourselves in good place.

“It will be a hard fought game with both teams trying to edge each other out all the way till the end.

“To lift the Trophy would be an incredible achievement and an awesome moment for the programme and the girls.”

The teams take to the court on Saturday, with the action tipping off at 4:00PM TICKETS

On Wednesday (18th), Sevenoaks returns to Championship action. The Suns host Durham Palatinates in what will be an important outing for both clubs, as the regular season draws to a close.
