Semis tickets for Suns and Riders as Trophy heats up

The first Semi-Final of the 2019 WBBL Trophy has been set as holders Leicester Riders and Sevenoaks Suns both got the wins needed in their Groups to make the last four of the competition.

In what will be a re-run of the 2018 Final, Riders secured their spot in the Semis by strolling past Oaklands Wolves 95-83 off the back of classy double-doubles from Brea Elmore and Kate Oliver.

Suns pushed the full power button after the break at home to BA London Lions, and wrapped up an 83-54 victory as Jess Good and Renee Busch scored 19 and 17 points respectively.

There was also a big victory for Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters as they eased past Nottingham Wildcats 73-83, with Sarah Toeaina and Helen Naylor continuing their rich vein of form.

Finally, Durham Palatinates still have a good chance to make the Semi Finals after they responded to a Saturday night overtime loss at Eagles by beating Caledonia Pride 81-71, thanks mainly to a fine shooting effort from Rudiane Eduardo.
