Chelsea Small has confirmed her place in the Essex Rebels roster for the 2019-20 season.
Originating from Denver, Colorado, Small played for four years at Denver East High School where she helped her team to state and conference championships in 2010.
She also played for Hutchinson Community College where her team finished the season 36-1, with the one loss being the NJCAA National Championship. Small was then selected to the NJCAA All-tournament team as a sophomore.
Moving to Indiana State University in 2012 as a senior, she played and started all 30 games and led the ISU in blocks.
After graduating Small then moved to Germany to play professional basketball for Rhein-Main Baskets in Langen, Germany. She joined Rhein-Main’s season, which was already in progress and averaged a double-double with 16.2 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.
Small helped her team to a fifth-place finish in the Damen-Basketball-Bundesliga League (DBBL), narrowly missing the Play-Offs.
“This is a great signing for us,” said Tom Sadler, Head Coach for Essex Rebels. “Chelsea brings a lot of experience to the team having played in Germany the past few seasons.
“Prior to Germany, Chelsea was a key member of a very good Indiana state team and really helped establish a winning culture during her time there, something that I know she will bring here to the Rebels programme.”
