Suns go down as Wildcats maul champs on busy Saturday

Nottingham Wildcats produced an amazing last quarter to topple Sevenoaks Suns who lost a WBBL Championship fixture for the first time since the 2017-18 season.

Their amazing winning run, which witnessed a 22-0 Regular Season during 2018-19 and was 34 games in total, was brought to a halt by Wildcats with a spectacular 29-8 final quarter as the home side turned around a double-digit deficit.

Jasmine Joyner continued her immense season with a brilliant 22 points and 18 rebounds, while teammate Chelsey Shumpert weighed in with 25 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

Leicester Riders remain in the centre of the title race and like both Wildcats and Suns, have only lost once. Their latest victory came at Oaklands where they sunk the Wolves by 87-66. Kate Oliver came up with a monumental double-double of 25 points and 20 rebounds for Riders.

Newcastle Eagles continued their good form with a one-sided 84-48 road win at Cardiff Met Archers. Amazingly four different players all came up with double-doubles and it was Giulia Simioni who impressed most with 21 points and 11 assists.

Finally, Manchester Mystics overpowered BA London Lions 72-38, with Sam Roscoe offering 23 points and 15 boards, while Georgia Jones had a terrific 21 points and 11 assists.
