Our second line-up of the new campaign sees a couple of players return from opening week as they continue their red-hot start to the season.
Rosanna Reynolds (Caledonia Pride)
The difference maker for the Scottish side, Reynolds thrilled a sell-out crowd in Edinburgh as she carried the local favourites to a famous win against defending league champions, Nottingham Wildcats. She has secured her debut All-Star Five slot after racking up 15 points and a spectacular 17 rebounds. She also handed out 4 assists.
Cat Carr (Sevenoaks Suns)
It was a thrilling end to the WBBL weekend as Sevenoaks came from behind to force overtime and then finish the job against the visiting Team Northumbria. Carr helped Suns maintain their unbeaten record with 21 points, sinking some big shots down the stretch to take the game away from the visitors and cement her second appearance of the season.
Steph Gandy (Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters)
There are few faces as familiar to our All-Star Five as Gandy, with the veteran still going strong and a major influence. Having also played well in the win at Mystics on Saturday, she followed it up with an even better effort against BA London Lions 24 hours later, when she corralled 21 points from 61% floor-shooting, while also adding 3 rebounds and 2 assists.
Gianna Woods (Westfield Health Sheffield Hatters)
A clear and present danger which all of Hatters’ opponents will now be acutely aware of after a super start to her WBBL career, Woods is back for her second slot in our fab five. She registered another big performance with 21 points and 12 rebounds in the victory at at Manchester Mystics, as well as offering 3 blocked shots, 3 assists and 2 steals.
Kara Bonenberger (Team Northumbria)
It wasn’t all doom and gloom for Northumbria, who prior to their tear-jerker at Sevenoaks, took a nice road win at Cardiff Met Archers. That was delivered primarily because of the interior presence of Bonenberger, with the frontcourt star coming up with an efficient and rock solid effort that harvested a precious 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Off the bench – Alison Gorrell (Team Northumbria), Eilidh Simpson (Cardiff Met Archers), Dom Allen (Manchester Mystics), Alyesha Lovett (Nottingham Wildcats), Christina Gaskin (BA London Lions), Chantelle Handy (Team Northumbria), Chantelle Pressley (Sevenoaks Suns).
