Cardiff Met Archers have looked to familiarity as they put together their roster for the 2020-21 campaign.
Last season: Cardiff lost both group games in the Trophy before suffering a big First Round loss in the Cup against Newcastle Eagles.
In the league, the Archers had a 4-10 record but were still in the hunt for the Play-Offs before the season’s cancellation.
Back again: Stef Collins returns as player-coach having also stepped into an assistant coach role with GB Senior Women ahead of their next game.
Long-serving Archer Sarah Wagstaff is also back alongside Laura Shanahan as well as Robyn Lewis, who has also adds to an experienced core.
Cristina Biglia, Sara Jorgensen and Mara Marchizotti all averaged in double figures in scoring last season and the trio are back for another season. There are also returns for Levi Warren, Azeb Smalley, Kim Kheing and Marie Le Picault, while Denise Molnar last played for the club during the inaugural WBBL season six years ago.
New faces: Shannon Hatch is the sole confirmed newcomer for Cardiff having spent the past two seasons in Germany after a previous spell in Canada under former GB head coach, Damian Jennings.
Outlook: It’s a similar looking roster for the Archers, who have not won more than six league games since the first-ever campaign back in 2014-15 and will face a challenge to avoid repeated struggles.
